Automotive paints, clear varnishes for UV protection

Modern car paint finish is built up from five perfectly coordinated layers: a primer coat containing zinc, electro-dip paint, filler, base paint, and clear coat. Hydroxy esters MERACRYL® HPMA and HEMA as well as MMA from Röhm are used primarily for the uppermost layers, providing surface hardness, high scratch resistance, weather resistance, and chemical resistance.

Clear varnishes based on MERACRYL® methacrylates provide long-term UV protection for the materials used in hubcaps and in the rotor blades of wind turbines, to prevent them from deteriorating.
