Methacrylates

Our portfolio includes basic products such as methyl methacrylate (MMA), n- and i- butylmethacrylate (BMA), and methacrylic acid (GMAA). We also produce the hydroxy esters 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HPMA) and methacrylamide (MAA).

In March 2025, Röhm successfully commissioned a state-of-the-art production plant for MMA in Bay City (Texas, USA). For the first time, the C2-based LiMA technology (“Leading in Methacrylates”) is being used.

We use parts of the methacrylate production to manufacture polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) in the form of thermoplastic molding compounds, binders and thermoplastic methacrylic resins .
